Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Conduct a structured learner pre-brief for a difficult patient or family conversation by eliciting at least one learner concern, identifying a clear "headline" statement of the medical news, and selecting one communication strategy to practice during the encounter.
- Establish a clear observational "anchor" for a learner's difficult conversation by defining one specific communication behavior to observe and communicating explicit expectations for feedback during the post-encounter debrief.
